Our History
2000 MCSO was founded by Pat Hanson
2001 Received 501C, Hiller Park the intended location
2003 MCSD & public chose Pierson Park for Skatepark
2004/2005 1st McKinleyville Skatepark design approved
2007-2009 MCSO reorganization & Right-of-entry lead to new design for the Skatepark
2010/2011 New Design complete Right-of-entry in constant negotiations with MCSD, MSPO has a solid support team
2012-2013 No MCSD Right of entry MSPO looking for land & and raising funds
October 2017 Humboldt Skatepark Collective approved by MCSD board for Right of entry back at the Pierson location for McKinleyville Skatepark
May 1st 2019 The McKinleyville Community Service District approves LSD draft Design for Skatepark. Going to permit process with county once final is accepted
November 2019 Tony Hawk Foundation awards McKinleyville project a $10,000.00 Grant for construction.
June 24th 2021 McKinleyville Skatepark is Permitted for Construction
June 2022 a $25,000 headwaters Grant, Extended to 2024
April 2023 a $9,330 Coast Centrel grant for ADA sidewalk
April 2023 a $ 6,000 grant from the Mckinleyville Area Fund
June 1st Ground broke by comunity supporters
June 3rd at the Pony Express festavel sign placed at akatepark location
June 3rd $8493.18 in donations and shirt sales,
Keep the funding coming in the more funds we have the larger the phase can become curent estmat 3500 ft sq
